Clinic Information
The Gorge UPCC is for patients who require medical attention within 12 – 24 hours but are not emergent.
When to use the Emergency Department (ER)
If you or someone in your care is experiencing a life-threatening medical condition or serious injury, do not hesitate to go to the nearest emergency department or call 9-1-1. To find examples of urgent medical conditions that require immediate care, visit islandhealth.ca/Find-Care.
You can visit the UPCCÂ with these conditions:
Common Illnesses
- Coughs, colds, sore throat
- Ear infections
- Urinary tract infections (also available through pharmacy)
- Allergic reactions or asthma (if you have trouble breathing, call 911)
- Skin conditions (rashes, skin irritation, minor wounds or itchy spots)
- Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and constipation
- Minor illnesses, fevers or infections in children
- Infections or abscesses
- Mental health concerns such as low mood, anxiety and depression
Minor Injuries
- Sprains and strains
- Stitches for cuts
- Suture removal
- Stabilizing you for hospital transport if needed
Reproductive and Sexual Health
- Pregnancy testing and options
- STI testing and treatment
- Support and care after sexual assault
